With skyrocketing rents, anemic tenant protections, spineless politicians, and crooked brokers pocketing fees on high-turnover apartments year after year, it’s no wonder landlords think they can get away with murder. This fall, Screen Slate and Anthology Film Archives celebrate the residents who don’t just rent strike, but strike back. From New York to Ohio to the San Francisco Bay, Paris to Mexico City, every city worldwide is infested by the same, lowest form of vermin: the investment property owner. KILL YR LANDLORDS is an international series of predominantly genre films that inverts the backwards morality of most urban crime pictures, in which the wealthy are victimized by lower classes. Instead, the movies in KILL YR LANDLORDS acknowledge the more accurate social truth: it is the heartless monied class who are the profiteering parasites.
