WORLD AIDS DAY: DAY WITH(OUT) ART 2023
December 1 – December 3
Since 1989, Visual AIDS – a New York based non-profit that utilizes art to fight AIDS by provoking dialogue, supporting HIV+ artists, and preserving a legacy – has mobilized art institutions for Day With(out) Art. A day of mourning and action that uses art to respond to the ongoing HIV and AIDS crisis, Day With(out) Art encourages universities, museums, art institutions, and AIDS organizations to present related programming on or around World AIDS Day, which falls on December 1.
This year, to honor World AIDS Day, Anthology will present two programs: one devoted to Juan Botas’s documentary ONE FOOT ON A BANANA PEEL, THE OTHER FOOT IN THE GRAVE (1994), and another – presented in collaboration with Visual AIDS – showcasing that organization’s 2023 short film program, “Everyone I Know Is Sick”.
Special thanks to Kyle Croft & Elena Guzman (Visual AIDS) and Jos Howard Demme.
