CINEMA TEHRAN AT ANTHOLOGY FILM ARCHIVES
October 26 – December 31
Cinema Tehran is a pop-up cinematheque inspired by the era of 1970s cinemas in Iran’s capital. This project represents the reemergence of the spirit of the metropolitan theaters of Tehran, and is the continuation of the cult dance party and concert series hosted by Disco Tehran. Each Cinema Tehran session features a multi-cultural selection of films, bringing together classics of world cinema with new visions from emerging talents.
For the October installment of Cinema Tehran, we will be graced by a visit from Iranian filmmaker Rafi Pitts, who will be here in person to present two of his feature films: IT’S WINTER (2006) and THE HUNTER (2010).
This series has been created by Arya Ghavamian, the co-founder of Disco Tehran along with Mani Nilchiani. Special thanks to Rafi Pitts, and to Valentina Bronzini (The Match Factory). For more info about Cinema Tehran and Disco Tehran, visit https://cinematehran.nyc/ and www.discotehran.nyc/
Each feature will screen alongside a short film.
[PLEASE NOTE: The showtimes for the March screenings of THE COLOR OF POMEGRANATES and GABBEH are listed in our printed calendar as 7:30, but the screenings will actually be starting at 8pm; we apologize for any inconvenience.]
