AUSTRIAN CULTURAL FORUM NY PRESENTS: TIZZA COVI & RAINER FRIMMEL

September 1 – September 11

FILMMAKERS IN PERSON!

As part of our ongoing collaboration with the Austrian Cultural Forum New York, Anthology presents a comprehensive retrospective devoted to the work of husband and wife filmmaking team Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel. Having established themselves as gifted documentarians with a series of films focusing on marginal and disadvantaged communities and individuals – including the itinerant circus family of BABOOSKA, the residents of a tiny and remote village in the former Soviet Union in THAT’S ALL, and the disturbing yet highly compelling hospital orderly whose solitary video monologues Frimmel compiled to create NOTES FROM THE BASEMENT – Frimmel and Covi have most recently turned to fiction filmmaking with LA PIVELLINA, a highly accomplished feature film whose neo-realist style and generous characterizations bear the unmistakable stamp of their documentary roots.

Anthology, with the invaluable support of the Austrian Cultural Forum, is very pleased to welcome Covi & Frimmel to New York (beginning on September 7) to present all four of their feature films.

Special thanks to Tizza Covi & Rainer Frimmel, Hannah Liko & Sara Veit (Austrian Cultural Forum NY), Brigitta Burger-Utzer & Ute Katschthaler (Sixpack Film), Sanam Madjedi (Films Distribution), Paul Marchant (First Run Features), and Brigitte Weich (Austrian Film Commission).
