MICHEL AUDER: MADE IN NEW YORK, 1969-2014

May 10 – May 11

FILMMAKER IN PERSON!

Since Michel Auder moved from Paris to New York in 1970, NYC has been a central site for his vast production of film and video works. This selected screening program demonstrates Auder’s thoroughly autobiographical approach in which documentary, poetry, and fiction blend together. The series presents an extensive selection of films and videos that portray Auder himself, his family, and his New York art scene. Through the poetry of his production the city becomes the set and his friends and family become the actors. Taken from a personal archive, many of these works were edited into individual pieces years after they were shot. History, personal or otherwise, becomes the raw material that is then recycled, reused, and repurposed as a sociopolitical reflection.
